Modern Pakistani Airpower is achieved through a mix of fixed-wing and rotary-wing design originating from a variety of global players with a focus on combat and direct-attack actions backed by a sizeable rotorcraft force. Local industry has begun handling construction of Chinese-originated designs including the JF-17 lightweight multirole fighter. The PAF also welcomes the Chinese J1- into the mix. The force fields the venerable American F-16 Fighting Falcon lightweight multirole fighter as well and this through various production Blocks including Block 52+. Most notable are three aging warplane types in the French Mirage III and Mirage 5 platforms as well as the Chinese F-7 interceptor.

NOTES: 16 additional J-10 fighters remain on order. JF-17 Block 1.2 types are slated to be modernized through the Block 3 initiative. The JF-17C is expected to overtake the aging stock of F-7PG fighters in same role while a combination of JF-17 and J-10 fighters will push the Mirage IIs and 5s into formal retirement. The massive IL-78 is utilized in a dual-role as a transport and aerial refueler. The aging stock of American T-37s are set to be succeeded by the Chinese K-8 line being assembled locally.
